The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is recruiting for three Medical Officer positions, and the administration has initiated the process. Following a review, the applications of 96 doctors have been selected for interviews, while nine applications were rejected for being incomplete.
Interviews for the posts will be held on September 29 and 30. The minimum qualification for a Medical Officer is an MBBS degree. Following their selection, the AIIMS administration may assign the new officers to either clinical duties or administrative responsibilities.
There has been a long-standing demand for the recruitment of Medical Officers at AIIMS. Currently, professors and senior doctors are appointed to administrative posts, which affects medical education. It is expected that recruiting doctors for these permanent positions will give them greater responsibility. Assigning them administrative tasks will reduce the burden on other doctors, while also allowing them to provide treatment when needed.
The AIIMS administration invited applications for these non-faculty posts on July 5, 2025, receiving a total of 105 applications. After the applications were scrutinised on September 22, 51 doctors were deemed fully eligible for an interview, while 45 were granted provisional permission.

The Medical Officer position is a Level 10, permanent post. While the AIIMS administration has not specified the salary in the application notice, it is believed that the officer will receive a very good salary compared to doctors in the provincial medical cadre. The permanent nature of the post has generated significant interest among doctors. The results will be announced after the two-day interview process is complete.
