Bihar Election Dates: The Election Commission of India has intensified the preparations for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Election 2025 and directed the Bihar Chief Electoral Officer, Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, to complete necessary transfers of officers and employees involved in election-related work by October 6. The ECI has asked the state administration to ensure a fair and impartial election process and issued guidelines for the posting and transfers of officials.
The high-stakes elections in Bihar are scheduled to be held in the October-November period this year. With the ECI's fresh directive, it is expected that the official dates for the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 will be announced after October 6. The Election Commission had earlier hinted at announcing the Bihar election dates after Dussehra, which will be celebrated on October 2.
Owing to a directive from the Election Commission, Bihar CEO Vinod Singh Gunjiyal sent formal letters to the Chief Secretary, DGP, and all Additional Chief Secretaries of various departments, directing them to submit transfer and posting reports by October 6.
The Election Commission highlighted the importance of transfer-related guidelines and said that these transfers aim to eliminate local influence, prevent partisan activities, and boost public confidence in the electoral process. "Rotating officers and preventing them from serving in their home districts ensures neutrality and reduces the risk of manipulation during polling,"it said.
