At the 23rd convocation ceremony of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) on Tuesday, a total of 53,943 students from various courses were awarded degrees, including 86 PhD scholars. The event, held at the university’s Pt Atal Bihari Vajpayee Multipurpose Auditorium also saw the distribution of 88 medals, 37 gold, 26 silver, and 25 bronze, to meritorious students.

Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, who attended as the chief guest, was conferred with an honorary Doctor of Science (DSc) degree.

Medal Highlights

  • Chancellor’s Gold Medal: Nancy, BTech (Computer Science & Engineering), Pranveer Singh Institute of Technology, Kanpur
  • Kamal Rani Varun Memorial Gold Medal: Unnati Gaur, RD Engineering College, Ghaziabad, for topping among all Scheduled Caste female students in BTech
  • The Governor also felicitated schoolchildren from villages adopted by AKTU, who won drawing, storytelling, and speech competitions.

Startup Awards

In addition to academic honours, the university recognised young innovators with Startup Awards in various categories:

  • Accessibility: Sarthak Sisodia, BTech (III Year), Meerut Institute of Engineering & Technology
  • Agriculture: Shubhankar Chauhan and Atul Mishra, BTech (IV Year), KIPM College of Engineering & Technology
  • Health Innovation: Jayanti Tiwari, BTech (III Year), UP Textile Technology Institute, Kanpur
  • Social Impact: Tejas Kumar Garg, BTech (III Year), Institute of Engineering & Technology, Lucknow
  • Sustainability Champion: Mohit, MCA (II Year), Fort Institute of Technology, Meerut
  • Women-Led Startup: Rosy Maindolia, BTech, Dr Ambedkar Institute of Technology for Handicapped, Kanpur
  • Tech Innovation: Dikshant Kumar, BTech (IV Year), Meerut Institute of Engineering & Technology
