Aligarh-Palway Highway News: The Aligarh district administration initiated land acquisition from 31 villages for the widening of the Aligarh-Palwal highway. The government has earmarked Rs 600 crore for acquiring more than 160 hectares of land across these villages, with awards for 17 villages already declared. Meanwhile, orders for four additional villages, amounting to around Rs 50 crore in compensation are expected to be announced within days.

Authorities have started setting up camps in the designated villages to facilitate the distribution of compensation. These villages include Arrana, Udaygarhi, Bankner, Ganeshpur, Nagla Assu, Usrah Rasoolpur, Bulakipur and several others. Awards for the remaining villages will be declared in subsequent phases.

The Aligarh-Palwal highway was previously upgraded to a four-lane highway by the Public Works Department (PWD) at a cost of Rs 552 crore. Following its transfer to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the Khair-Jattari bypass was left incomplete, leading to frequent traffic congestion.
