In a significant boost to rail connectivity between Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, a new weekly train service between Ayodhya Cantt and Bhavnagar (Gujarat) via Lucknow and Rajasthan was flagged off on Sunday. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the special train from Bhavnagar, marking the beginning of this long-distance route.

The special train is scheduled to reach Lucknow around noon on Monday, where a grand welcome has been planned. Regular operations of the Ayodhya Cantt–Bhavnagar Express will commence from August 11.

As per the schedule:

-Train number 19201 will depart from Bhavnagar every Monday at 1:50 PM and reach Ayodhya Cantt at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, stopping at Lucknow at 3:35 PM.

-In return, Train number 19202 will leave Ayodhya Cantt every Tuesday at 10:30 PM, halting at Lucknow at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, and will arrive in Bhavnagar at 4:45 AM on Thursday.

The train will cover a total distance of 1,552 kilometres via Kanpur, with an average speed of 54.13 km/h on its way to Ayodhya and 51.31 km/h on its return journey, taking 28 hours and 40 minutes and 30 hours and 15 minutes respectively.

Key stoppages along the route include Barabanki, Lucknow, Kanpur, Tundla, Idgah Agra, Bharatpur, Bandikui, Gandhinagar Jaipur, Jaipur, Kishangarh, Ajmer, Beawar, Marwar, Falna, Abu Road, Palanpur, Mehsana, Viramgam, Surendranagar Gate, Limbdi, Dholka, Sehore Junction, and finally Bhavnagar Para.

Notably, a halt at Abu Road station makes it easier for passengers planning holidays at Mount Abu to access the hill station.
