Surya Tilak For Ram Lalla: A remarkable addition was made to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya earlier this year- a special scientific system that is intended to adorn the idol of Ram Lalla with a "Surya Tilak" on every Ram Navami beginning this year. Ram Navami, which marks the birth anniversary of Lord Rama, is observed on the ninth day of the first month of the Hindu calendar. Usually, it falls in March or April. Ram Navami will be observed on April 17 this year.
Every Ram Navami celebration will see the installation of a complex system of mirrors and lenses on the premises of the temple. By directing the ray of sunlight onto Ram Lalla's forehead, this system will create the revered "Surya Tilak," a celebration and symbol of reverence.
How Will Sun Rays Reach Ram Lalla's Forehead?
The 'Surya Tilak' project aims to light up the forehead of Lord Ram Lalla's idol with natural sunlight at 12 PM on every Ram Navami. This brief but important event could last "three to four minutes, potentially extending to around six minutes." Optica collaborated with the Indian Institute of Astrophysics in Bangalore to create a one-of-a-kind design that includes precision lenses and mirrors. These elements capture natural sunlight and transform it into a divine symbol for this auspicious occasion.
A complex gear mechanism for the lunar calendar is at the centre of the endeavor. This mechanism, which was created to coincide with Ram Navami Day every year, skillfully combines cutting-edge technology with conventional beliefs.
The piping, tip-tilt, and optical path stages have all been cleverly designed to function without the need for springs. This design promises continuous divine radiance for future generations by assuring longevity and hassle-free maintenance. With just "Pancha Dathu" used in its construction and installation, the system can be maintained for a century. Its design ensures uninterrupted operation and reverence by making optic replacements simple when necessary.
The Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Kshetra Trust showed confidence in the coming celestial event of sun rays falling directly on the deity on April 17, Ram Navami, after a recent trial run of the "Surya Abhishek" for Ram Lalla at the sanctum-sanctorum of Ayodhya's Ram Temple.
To ensure the seamless implementation of the 'Surya Abhishek' event, experts from the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, are currently stationed in Ayodhya.
