Ayodhya-Varanasi Expressway: A high-speed expressway from Ayodhya to Varanasi is set to reshape the travel habits of thousands of commuters. The journey from Ayodhya to Varanasi, which takes several hours, will soon be reduced to a two-hour drive. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has officially begun the tender process, following which the selected agency will begin preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR).

The Ayodhya-Varanasi Expressway is a part of a broader road development project in Ayodhya to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity across the city, Jagran.com reported.

Ayodhya-Varanasi Expressway: Check Distance, Travel Time And Other Details

- A high-speed expressway will be constructed between two of India’s most revered pilgrimage sites, Ayodhya and Varanasi. Former MP Lallu Singh had long been advocating for a high-level road between Ayodhya and Varanasi.

- The Ayodhya-Varanasi Expressway will reduce travel time between the two major cities of Uttar Pradesh to just two hours.

- Spanning over 200 kilometres, the proposed expressway will offer fast, safe and uninterrupted travel for commuters.

- The upcoming expressway will be linked to the Purvanchal Expressway, enhancing connectivity to the national capital.

- The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated the tender process for this project, following which a selected agency will be responsible for preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR).

Details About Ayodhya Road Infrastructure Projects

- The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has launched several key road infrastructure projects in Ayodhya to boost connectivity and socio-economic development.

- Among these are the construction of the 84 Kosi Parikrama Marg, along with new highways connecting Ayodhya to Janakpur, Sultanpur, Jagdishpur, and the Ram Van Gaman Marg.

- Apart from this, multiple overbridges and underpasses will also be built on the busy Lucknow Highway. Authorities are planning to construct a comprehensive ring road in Ayodhya to ease congestion and enhance connectivity.

- As a part of the road development process, the Ayodhya Bypass has been beautified at a cost of Rs 55 crore.
