Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission: UP Govt Hospitals To Link Patients With ABHA; Multiple Verification Options Available

Under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), all patients visiting government hospitals in UP will be connected to the ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) facility. Currently, approximately 14.3 crore people have been registered on the ABHA app, which aims to connect patients, doctors, labs, hospitals, and pharmacies with each other.

Through this, all reports related to a patient's illness (health records) are available at any time, anywhere on the mobile app. A key feature of the application is that it provides each citizen with a unique identity in the healthcare sector, which could be used across the country with the patient's consent.

To connect the maximum number of people to ABHA, ASHA (आशा) workers are also conducting registrations by visiting homes. Additionally, the PHR/EHR app can be downloaded from the Play Store.

An ABHA account can also be created via https://abha.abdm.gov.in, using Aadhaar. If a mobile number is not linked to Aadhaar, one can also register themself on the app through biometric verification, by visiting the nearest ABDM-registered health centre. Along with this, an account can also be created through facial verification via the ABHA and Aarogya Setu apps.

According to ABDM Nodal In-charge Dr Mohit Singh, the number of specialists providing health services (Healthcare Professionals Registry) has also exceeded 1,00,000. In this, doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other healthcare providers are registered at the national level.

Furthermore, more than 70,000 public and private health facilities, associated with both modern and traditional medical systems, such as hospitals, clinics, laboratories, diagnostic centres, and pharmacies, have been registered.

Dr Mohit stated that the goal is to connect all patients arriving at hospitals with the ABHA app. Along with this, work is underway to link lab and pharmacy services to it as well.
