UP News:  In a tragic accident in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor, six members of a family, including a newlywed couple, died after a car hit the autorickshaw they were travelling in. The accident reportedly took place on Friday night due to the low visibility amid dense fog in the region. According to a senior police official, the family was returning from Bihar after the wedding ceremony and boarded the auto from the railway station.

Two people have been admitted to a CHC with multiple injuries, the official said. The accident took place on the Haridwar-Kashipur National Highway in the Dhampur PS limits. All the deceased were identified as residents of village Tibri in Dhampur, a Jagran report stated.

"Information was received early in the morning that an auto and a car had collided. The car hit the auto, and there were 7 people in the auto, out of which 6 people died. The auto driver died during treatment. A case has been registered against the car driver, and the vehicle has been seized. The car driver is also undergoing treatment," Bijnor SP Abhishek said.

The accident claimed the lives of seven people, including four men, two women, and a young girl. The victims, part of a family returning home after a wedding in Bihar, had hired an auto-rickshaw for their journey.

Among the deceased were the bride and groom, the groom’s aunt, his brother, and the auto driver. Police arrived promptly at the scene, took custody of the bodies, and launched an investigation into the accident.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the loss of lives in a road accident in Bijnor district.

In a post on X, his office informed that district administration officials were instructed to speed up the relief work and provide proper treatment to the injured.

"Maharaj Ji prayed to Lord Shri Ram for peace of the departed souls and speedy recovery of the injured and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families," the post stated.
