A person who was caught trespassing in a factory died in police custody on Saturday, leading to the suspension of three police personnel including the station house officer in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district.
The deceased, identified as Rashid (40), was brought to the Sikandrabad police station by the watchman of the factory on Friday night. He was kept under CCTV surveillance throughout his detention.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar, Rashid’s condition started deteriorating around 6.30 am and he was rushed to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. The post-mortem report did not reveal the exact cause of death and the viscera has been preserved for further examination.

The SSP said that there were no injury marks on the deceased's body and the CCTV footage showed that he was not beaten at the police station. He added that SHO Rajpal Singh Tomar and two other police personnel have been suspended on the charge of laxity in the discharge of duty.

Police have initiated an inquiry against the three police personnel on the charges of negligence and further investigation into the matter is underway.
