The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has started the registration process for private students for the 10th and 12th-grade board exams that will be held in 2026. After preparing the list of regular students, the application portal has now been opened for private candidates. Students who failed between 2020 and 2025 can appear for the 2026 examination. The board has clarified that the entire process of filling out the application form and paying the fees will be done online only.
Who Can Apply?
According to CBSE rules, the following students can apply:
- Students who failed their board exams in any session between 2020 and 2025.
- Students who received a "compartment" (meaning they need to retake a subject) in the 2024-25 main and supplementary exams.

Application Fees And Important Dates
- Fee for one subject: Rs 320
- Fee for each additional subject: Rs 320
- Additional fee for each practical subject (for Class 12): Rs 160
- Last date to apply (without a late fee): September 30, 2025
Late application window (with a late fee): October 3 to October 11, 2025
CBSE's City Coordinator, Ajit Dixit, stated, "The application form and fee payment will only be accepted online. No applications will be considered valid after the final deadline, so interested students must complete their registration on time."
