Civil Lines will be declared a 'No E-Rickshaw Zone.' Directives regarding this were issued on Tuesday during the District Road Safety Committee meeting held at the Sangam Auditorium. Additionally, instructions were given to implement the 'No Helmet, No Fuel' policy.
Reduction In Road Accidents
There has been a 10 per cent reduction in road accidents in the district. Compared to 149 accidents in December 2024, there were 133 accidents in December 2025. District Magistrate (DM) Manish Kumar Verma has issued instructions to achieve a further 60 percent reduction in road accidents next month.
Removal Of Boulders Postponed
In the previous meeting, directives were given to remove the boulders placed during the Mahakumbh in front of the Alopibagh flyover and Patthar Girjaghar (protest site) to open the path for pedestrians. However, based on the committee's site inspection report, it has now been decided to open these areas only after the Magh Mela.
E-Rickshaw Regulation And Awareness
ADM (City) Satyam Mishra directed that a detailed plan be prepared for e-rickshaw operations, including determining routes through color coding. The Municipal Corporation and the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) were instructed to conduct road safety awareness programs while ensuring that public address (PA) systems remain functional.
Enforcement On School Vehicles And Fog Safety
The Transport Department was directed to launch an intensive enforcement drive against school vehicles operating without valid fitness certificates. Instructions were also given to form Road Safety Clubs and to ensure regular meetings regarding transport vehicles are held. In view of dense fog, the installation of retro-reflective tapes on vehicles has been made mandatory.
Trauma Centers And Safety Surveys
Instructions were given to provide information regarding ITMS challans on a monthly cycle as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) was asked to ensure that trauma centers, as well as private and government hospitals near national highways, remain fully functional.
To implement a zero-fatality rate, officials were directed to conduct a road safety survey based on coordinates within the critical corridor list (under the Save Life Foundation's Road Safety Plan) and submit the report in the prescribed format. CDO Harshika Singh and City Magistrate Vinod Kumar Singh were also present at the meeting.
