In a stern warning to law breakers, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated on Wednesday that anyone who compromises the safety of women and daughters will face severe consequences. Speaking at an event at Lok Bhavan to launch the distribution of free cylinder refills under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, he declared, "If anyone were to tamper with the safety of daughters, they should be certain that Yamraj would be waiting for them at the next crossroads."
During the same address, the Chief Minister launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party, accusing the pre-2017 government of nepotism and appeasing criminals. "Before 2017, the government in this state only thought about the Saifai family. It all revolved around the same uncles and nephews. SP ministers and the chief minister would all grovel before the mafia, but that is no longer the case," he said. "People from a single family would loot government schemes and jobs. They would sacrifice the spirit of celebration to riots. Now, every festival is celebrated with peace and joy."
The primary purpose of the event was to provide free cylinder refills to women beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana, with the Chief Minister symbolically handing over the benefit to ten women. The Yogi Adityanath government is providing a subsidy of Rs 1,500 crore to the accounts of 18.6 million eligible women in the state under this scheme.
This initiative is part of the government's broader mission to empower women through various schemes aimed at making them self-reliant, secure, and socially empowered.
