Covid-19 Cases in India: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday conducted a review of the global and national situation concerning the latest Covid-19 subvariant JN.1. He stated that currently, there is no cause for alarm regarding Covid infections in Uttar Pradesh; however, given the global scenario, continued caution and vigilance remain essential.

During the review meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence, Yogi Adityanath directed all medical colleges, district hospitals, and health units across the state to remain on high alert. He emphasised that the Department of Medical and Medical Education should be fully prepared to handle any emergencies related to Covid-19.

The Chief Minister clarified that the Government of India has not issued any new advisory related to Covid-19. Nonetheless, with rising infections caused by the JN.1 subvariant in countries such as Thailand, Singapore, and Hong Kong, he stressed the importance of continuous monitoring within the state.

Yogi Adityanath instructed that the 10-bed ICUs, ventilators, and oxygen plants established in district hospitals during previous Covid waves should be maintained in full working condition permanently, with regular checks and upkeep. He also called for health workers to be trained for additional healthcare roles, highlighting their commendable contribution during the pandemic.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed the state government’s readiness and commitment to tackling all health challenges, including Covid-19. Furthermore, he urged departments to initiate preparations for the prevention and management of seasonal communicable diseases such as dengue, malaria, and kala-azar. He directed the Health Department, Medical Education Department, and local administrations to coordinate their efforts effectively.
