A fatal road accident occurred on the Delhi-Dehradun highway on Wednesday evening, leaving one young man dead and another critically injured. The incident took place at the Mataur village crossing when a speeding car collided with a motorcycle.

The Incident

The accident occurred around 8:00 pm. According to the police, the victims were identified as Rajveer Singh, a resident of Makhiyali village in Muzaffarnagar district, and his friend Kiran Singh, son of Bhup Singh and a resident of Mataur village. Rajveer had traveled to Mataur to visit relatives.

The two men were attempting to cross the highway at the intersection in front of the village when a speeding Baleno car, approaching from the direction of Partapur, rammed into their motorcycle.

Fatal Impact And Injuries

The collision was of such high intensity that both riders were thrown a considerable distance from the bike.

Rajveer Singh sustained severe head injuries after striking the road and died on the spot. Police noted that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Kiran Singh suffered critical injuries, resulting in his leg being severed.

Both the motorcycle and the car were badly damaged in the crash. Following the impact, the car driver lost control, causing the vehicle to mount the highway divider.

Police Action And Aftermath

The accident caused a traffic jam on the busy highway. Officials from the Daurala police station arrived promptly at the scene to manage the situation. They moved the damaged car to the side of the road to restore traffic flow.

The injured Kiran Singh was rushed to Future Hospital in Pallavpuram, where he remains in serious condition. Rajveer’s body was sent to the mortuary for post-mortem examination.

Official Statement

Station House Officer Suman Kumar Singh confirmed that the driver of the car has been taken into custody. "The driver is currently detained. A formal case will be registered against the accused once we receive a written complaint from the victim's family," the SHO stated.
