To manage the anticipated travel rush during the Diwali and Chhath festivals, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), also known as Roadways, will operate 200 additional buses from the Gorakhpur region to cater to passengers from Purvanchal and Bihar.

The additional services will be deployed on high-demand routes, with 55 buses scheduled for the Gorakhpur-Delhi route, 45 for the Kanpur route, and 100 for the Lucknow route. In addition to these long-haul services, the frequency of buses operating on local routes such as Padrauna, Tamkuhi, Maharajganj, Nichlaul and Sonauli will also be increased.

According to Lav Kumar Singh, the Regional Manager of the Transport Corporation, the Gorakhpur region has a total fleet of 960 buses. To ensure smooth operations and passenger convenience, the leave of all essential employees, including drivers and conductors, has been cancelled for the festive period. Staff who work continuously during this time will receive an incentive payment.

Of the standard buses, 40 have already been deployed for rural service. The administration has assured that all Roadways-owned and contracted buses will be fully operational to meet the increased demand during the festivals.
