The Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow has arrested a fake IAS official who posed as a Cabinet Secretary. The fake IAS officer has been identified as Saurabh Tripathi.

His social media profiles describe him as a Cabinet Secretary. Using his fake identity, he gained access to official events across multiple states through an NGO.

He used to attend those events as the chief guest and deliver speeches. While delivering speeches, he would often drop hints that he was soon going to receive a UP cadre posting.

The fraud was uncovered after a businessman in Lucknow reached out to him for work and became suspicious, informing a senior IAS officer.

The discreet checks were conducted by the LIU after which he was arrested. According to the police, the accused was employed originally as a Project Manager at ABM Knowledgeware Ltd.
