Fatehpur Tomb Controversy: Amid an ongoing protest by the opposition MLAs over an allegedly vandalised tomb in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur district, the district administration affirmed that the law and order is being maintained. They further stated that security personnel have been deployed at the site to restrict entries. Earlier, state parliamentary affairs minister Suresh Khanna stated that FIRs have been lodged against several individuals under multiple sections of the BNS. The response from the minister came after the Samajvadi Party MLA's accused the government of creating a division in the society. The opposition leaders also claimed that the government has been trying to protect some individuals due to their political associations.
Leader of the opposition Mata Prasad Pandey claimed that an announcement about the incident was made a week ago; however, the district officials did not take any action. “It has become a custom in the BJP government to damage madrasas and mausoleums. An announcement regarding the Fatehpur mausoleum was made a week in advance and a large number of people assembled to vandalise it. Though police personnel were there, they were not in sufficient numbers. Can the government reply to this?” Pandey asked.
