Ganga Expressway Update:  The Ganga Expressway project, an essential infrastructural development in Uttar Pradesh, is proceeding quickly. The 594-kilometre-long expressway, which connects Meerut and Kumbhnagari Prayagraj, intends to considerably improve the connection between eastern and western Uttar Pradesh. Now, a new timeline regarding the completion of the expressway has come to the fore. According to reports, the Ganga Expressway will not be operational before Kumbh due to the implementation of the GRAP 4 restrictions.

The work on the Ganga Expressway has been affected by this because the restrictions are effective in Meerut, Hapur and Bulandshahr under Delhi-NCR.

As a result, the completion deadline to finish it before the Maha Kumbh cannot be met. The Ganga Expressway was supposed to be operational by December 18, 2024, however, development is now falling behind schedule. The geographical progress of the Ganga Expressway has reached 92 percent, while the structural work has been completed to 98 percent.

However, just 71 percent of the construction work has been accomplished thus far. Due to this delay, the project is expected to be completed in March-April 2025.

The unique feature is that in Sambhal district, this expressway will cross the Agra Moradabad National Highway at Laharvan village, near the district headquarters in Bahjoi, where work is also underway to facilitate interchange and an overbridge is being built on the Aligarh Bareilly railway track here. The building of two overbridges is nearly 98 percent complete.
