Ghaziabad is witnessing a steady increase in dengue cases, with 32 new infections reported in the first seven days of November. The patients include children, young adults, women, and senior citizens. Meanwhile, a woman infected with dengue has died, though the health department has not officially confirmed the cause. Earlier, a youth infected with dengue had also succumbed to the illness, but that death, too, remains unverified by officials.

According to reports, Shyama Pandey, wife of Dinesh Pandey and a resident of Chiranjeev Vihar, died during treatment at a private hospital on November 5. She was confirmed to be dengue-positive.

In the last 24 hours alone, five new dengue cases have been recorded, three from government labs and two from private ones, bringing the district’s total to 299 cases so far this season. The condition of four patients admitted to various hospitals remains critical. At the District MMG Hospital, three dengue patients and over five seriously ill fever patients are currently undergoing treatment.

The number of malaria cases in the district stands at 86.

Health department teams surveyed 143 homes across different areas and found dengue mosquito larvae in 36 of them, which were subsequently destroyed. Notices have also been issued to the homeowners.

District Surveillance Officer RK Gupta urged residents to prevent water stagnation in and around their homes, regularly clean flower pots, and empty bathroom tubs before stepping out. He advised that in case of fever, only PCM tablets should be taken, and other medicines should be used strictly after consulting a doctor. He also recommended sleeping under mosquito nets, wearing full-sleeved clothes, and using masks when stepping outdoors.
