Ghaziabad is set to strengthen traffic enforcement as the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) becomes operational by the end of October. Following the completion of the first phase, traffic regulations will be strictly monitored across the city, similar to existing rules in Delhi.
Officials from the Municipal Corporation confirmed that work on the ITMS control room is in its final stages, with modern cameras being installed at 41 key locations. Municipal Corporation Chief Engineer NK Chaudhary stated that the system is expected to be implemented between October 15 and 30.

The government had sanctioned Rs 88 crore for the ITMS in 2024, with Rs 53 crore allocated for the first phase. The second phase will utilise the remaining funds, focusing on further improvements to the city’s traffic infrastructure.
The ITMS will feature advanced cameras, including 50 face-recognition cameras to identify offenders, 250 vehicle detection cameras, 110 pan-tilt-zoom cameras, and 115 red-light violation detection (RLVD) cameras capable of tracking vehicles and drivers involved in hit-and-run incidents.

Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik added that traffic personnel will be deployed alongside Municipal Corporation staff at the control room to ensure smooth monitoring. Preparations for the second phase of the ITMS, aimed at further enhancing Ghaziabad’s traffic management, are also set to begin soon.
