Commuters should be aware that the ABES underpass will be closed for six hours daily until October 1 to facilitate construction work on the Chipiyana Railway Overbridge (ROB).
To allow for the shifting of electricity poles, the ABES underpass will be closed to all vehicles from 11 am to 5 pm every day. This closure, which began on Friday, is scheduled to last until October 1.
According to ADCP Traffic Sachchidanand, the closure times were chosen to avoid peak morning and evening traffic. During the closure, a small underpass near the construction site will remain operational for commuters.
About The Chipiyana ROB Project
The construction of the Rs 30 crore, 700-metre-long Chipiyana ROB has been ongoing for over two years. Once complete, it will provide a direct route from the South Side GT Road industrial area to the main city, benefiting drivers heading towards Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi by allowing them to bypass Lalkuan.
The project has faced significant delays. Originally scheduled for completion in April 2024, the deadline has been pushed back by 14 months. Railway officials attribute the delay to challenges in shifting a 33 KVA power line. The new target for completion is now December 2025.
