Ghazipur-Chandauli Greenfield Expressway: The current road from Ghazipur to Saidraja (Chandauli) via Zamania is seven metres wide. leading to excessive traffic at certain points. To tackle this problem, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved the action plan to build a new Greenfield Highway. This project has got the approval from PM Gatishakti Portal, jagran.com reported. The 41.54 km long project will be completed at a cost of Rs 3,104 crore, out of which Rs 1,684 crore will be spent on building the road while the remaining amount will be spent on buying land.

About 260 hectares of land will have to be bought, for which farmers from more than 30 villages will be affected. After the construction of this four-lane project, vehicles going from Ghazipur to Chandauli will not have to come to Banaras, they will be able to go towards Bihar via Chandauli on this route.

The work of preparing DPR (Detailed Project Report) has been started, the process of land acquisition will start soon. NHAI Project Director Praveen Kumar Katiyar said that they have been asked to prepare the DPR. Soon the public will benefit from the project.

In another update, the survey work for the construction of a 14 km two-lane elevated road from Chowkaghat to Ring Road on both sides of Varuna river in the city has not been completed. Divisional Commissioner Kaushalraj Sharma had asked for the survey report from NHAI, but the engineers were unable to provide as the target could not be achieved. Earlier this work was assigned to Uttar Pradesh Bridge Corporation, but they could not accomplish it.

The Divisional Commissioner said that a joint report has been sought from NHAI and Setu Nigam. If they see the possibility of building an elevated road in the joint survey then DPR will be made otherwise a decision will be taken to end the project.
