Ghazipur City railway station in Uttar Pradesh is set to unveil its revamped look within the next two months under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The Railways has sanctioned Rs 14.81 crore for the redevelopment and beautification of the station, which has been underway for nearly two years.
As part of the upgrade, the station building has been enhanced with ACP panelled pillars and decorative lighting, giving the structure a modern appearance. Passenger shelters have been constructed across platforms one to five, while significant improvements have been made to the station’s access infrastructure.
To widen the approach road, the boundary wall of the railway staff colony was demolished and reconstruction work completed. The road width has now been expanded to 10.25 metres, and the circulating area has been fully upgraded. The station’s flag hoisting tower has also been shifted forward, contributing to the transformed frontage.
Pedestrian Facilities and Station Access
Under the scheme, a dedicated pedestrian pathway has been developed in the circulating area at a cost of Rs 1.60 crore, along with improved approach roads and drainage systems. These changes have eased passenger movement to and from the station.
Redesigned Station Front and Parking
The station is being redesigned at an estimated cost of Rs 1.20 crore, including the construction of a porch worth Rs 25 lakh. Separate arrival and departure buildings are being developed, along with parking facilities for two-wheelers, three-wheelers and cars, at a cost of Rs 50 lakh. Additional beautification works worth Rs 1.50 crore are also in progress.
Platform Upgrades
Platform elevation, surface improvement and shed construction have been completed at a cost of Rs 4.71 crore. False ceiling work under the sheds is pending and is expected to provide relief from heat during the summer months.
Improved Passenger Amenities
The passenger waiting room has been renovated and air-conditioned at a cost of Rs 22 lakh, making it more comfortable. A two-bed dormitory facility has also been introduced for overnight stays, which will be available only to passengers holding valid reservation tickets.
Digital Systems and Lighting
Train display boards, digital clocks, automatic announcement systems, and ticket counters-both reserved and unreserved, have been upgraded at a cost of Rs 92 lakh, though the display boards are yet to become operational. Additionally, high mast lights, transformers, LT panels, signage, fans and new lighting systems have been installed at a cost of Rs 1.78 crore.

With vibrant lighting and modern infrastructure, the station has taken on a completely new look, drawing visitors and passengers alike-especially during the night, when the illuminated premises have become a popular spot for photographs.
