Several key decisions were taken at the Airport Advisory Committee meeting on Monday, including proposals to make Gorakhpur Airport operational 24 hours a day, start flights to new cities, and rename the airport after Guru Gorakhnath. The committee also approved the installation of a statue of Guru Gorakhnath on the premises.

MP Ravi Kishan Shukla, who chaired the meeting, said the goal is to enable round-the-clock flights, subject to permission from the Indian Air Force and the mobilisation of necessary resources. He suggested launching direct flights from Gorakhpur to Jammu, Pune, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Goa, which would strengthen connectivity for the Purvanchal region with major cities across India.
