In a significant crackdown on corruption, the AIIMS police on Thursday attached the property of former railway employee Chandrashekhar Arya, an accused under the Gangster Act in connection with a Railway Group-D recruitment scam. The house, located in the Raptinagar area of Shahpur, is estimated to be worth approximately Rs 1 crore.
The attachment procedure was carried out in the presence of Deputy Tehsildar Devendra Yadav and AIIMS Station House Officer Sanjay Mishra. In accordance with legal procedure, the police made a public announcement by beating drums before posting an official notice on the property.
The Case Background
The action stems from a case registered at the Cantt police station regarding irregularities in the Railway Recruitment Board's Group-D examination. Investigations revealed that Arya tampered with the appointment process to fraudulently add the name of his son, Rahul Pratap, to the merit list.
Following the confirmation of these allegations, a case of forgery was registered on June 15 against Chandrashekhar Arya, his son Rahul Pratap, former railway employee Ram Sajivan, and his son Saurabh. Ram Sajivan, a resident of Railway Model Colony in Shahpur, has been identified by the police as the gang's ringleader. Consequently, the Gangster Act was invoked against all four accused.

Official Statement
SP City Abhinav Tyagi stated that Arya is originally from Barhpar Nasratpur village in the Sadat police station area of Ghazipur district. He affirmed that the administration will continue to take strict action against assets acquired through organised crime and fraud. Police are currently gathering details on the movable and immovable assets of the other accused involved in the scam.
