Several areas in the city will experience scheduled power cuts on Saturday due to ongoing maintenance and road widening work.
Ankit Kumar, Executive Engineer of the Town Hall Division, informed that the Indira Nagar feeder connected to the Taramandal substation will remain shut from 12 PM to 2 PM owing to six-lane road widening work. Consequently, parts of the Indira Nagar area will face power disruption.
Meanwhile, Sujit Gupta, Executive Engineer of the Electricity Secondary Works Division, announced that the Phase Three, Ramjankinagar, and Motipokhra feeders linked to the Raptinagar substation; the Gorakhnath East feeder connected to the Industrial Estate substation; and the GDA West feeder under the Taramandal substation will remain closed from 11 AM to 4 PM.
Additionally, Shahpur SDO VK Mall stated that the Adityapuri feeder will be shut down from 11 AM to 3 PM for the replacement of old poles and damaged wires.
In a separate incident, residents of Rustampur’s Chilmapur area faced a 20-hour power outage after two newly installed concrete poles collapsed around 10 PM on Thursday. The poles, erected just three days earlier near the Chilmapur water tank, broke suddenly, cutting off electricity to over 50 households.

Due to the outage, locals experienced a severe water crisis, and many were left unable to charge their mobile phones. Power department staff removed the fallen poles and wires on Thursday night, but began restoration work only on Friday morning.
Ankit Kumar, Executive Engineer of the Town Hall Division, confirmed that the delay occurred because no repair work was undertaken overnight. He added that the supply was restored on Friday after expedited efforts.
