Gorakhpur witnessed a major boost in industrial development in 2025, with the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) emerging as a preferred destination for investors, driven by the investment-focused policies of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

During the year, GIDA significantly expanded its land bank and allocated industrial plots across an area of nearly 8.75 lakh square metres, laying the groundwork for investments exceeding Rs 6,000 crore. Parallelly, the Dhuriapar Industrial Township, being developed as Greater GIDA, received investment proposals worth Rs 4,200 crore. Together, the two industrial zones are expected to generate employment for more than 17,000 people.

According to GIDA Chief Executive Officer Anuj Malik, 2025 marked the largest-ever industrial land allocation since the authority’s inception. A total of 116 industrial plots covering 8,71,841 square metres were allotted during the year, attracting investment proposals worth Rs 6,139 crore and generating employment opportunities for 11,072 people.

The Dhuriapar Industrial Township, a flagship project of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath aimed at revitalising the southern region, also made significant progress. The township is planned over 6,876 acres across 17 notified villages, with GIDA developing 800 acres in the first phase.

In this phase, 46.63 acres were allotted to the Adani Group for an Ambuja Cement unit, while 60.48 acres were allocated to Shreyas Distilleries and Energy Limited. These two projects alone are expected to attract investments of Rs 4,200 crore and create over 6,500 jobs. Tata Power has also expressed interest in a solar energy project, while Videocon has shown interest in setting up an electronic equipment manufacturing unit.

Momentum also picked up in the development of the state’s first Plastic Park in GIDA. Spread over 88 acres, the park is among the 10 plastic parks approved by the Union Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals. Of the proposed 92 plastic product units, land has already been allotted to nearly 60 units, making it one of the most successful plastic parks in the country. 

Several units commenced production in 2025, and three operational units, set up with an investment of Rs 120 crore, were inaugurated. Major companies, including Technoplast Packaging Private Limited, Omflex Industries and Gajanan Poly Plast, have established manufacturing units in the park.
