Work to strengthen the sewerage system in Gorakhpur will begin soon under the Amrit 2.0 programme. The project involves laying an approximately 950-metre-long sewer line from Humayunpur Tiraha to Gorakhnath police station.
The Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (Urban) has set a target to complete this project between November 14 and February 13, 2026. This work is part of the Gorakhpur Sewerage Scheme Zone C, Part-2.
Project Method And Preparations
The sewer line will be laid using the trenchless method, which is expected to cause minimal damage to roads and less inconvenience to citizens. The construction period is estimated to be around three months.
Inter-departmental Coordination: Executive Engineer Pankaj Kumar stated that coordination has been established with the Public Works Department, the Water Works Department (Jalkal), and the Electricity Department. This is to ensure that no pipelines or underground cables are damaged during the work.
Traffic Management: During the construction, one lane of the main road will remain open for traffic. The Jal Nigam team began strengthening the identified alternative routes on Wednesday.
