The Chiluatal police have arrested Jhinak Nishad, a wanted accused in the high-profile murder case of a NEET student in the Pipraich area. The accused was apprehended with 105 grams of heroin, valued at approximately Rs 25 lakh in the international market.
Details Of The Arrest
Late Tuesday night, police received a tip-off that an individual carrying a large quantity of narcotics was travelling from the direction of Transport Nagar via the embankment road. acting swiftly, a police team positioned themselves near an underpass on the Mohripur-Sinhorwa road in the Majnu outpost area.
Upon spotting the police, the suspect attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended a short distance away. During a search, police recovered 105 grams of heroin stored in a plastic box. During interrogation, the accused identified himself as Jhinak Nishad, a resident of Jungle DhusarHasanpur under the Pipraich police station.
Connection To NEET Student Murder
Police investigations revealed that Nishad was wanted in connection with the murder of Deepak, a NEET student, which occurred on the night of September 15-16 in the Pipraich area. The investigation into the murder had highlighted the role of criminals associated with cattle smuggling. The Special Task Force (STF) had previously filed a chargesheet against four cattle smugglers in this case, which included Jhinak Nishad’s name.
Role In Smuggling Syndicate
According to the investigation, Nishad was deeply entrenched in an organised cattle smuggling network. His role involved:
- Providing intelligence on police activities to smugglers.
- Guiding smugglers through safe routes to evade law enforcement.
- Receiving a commission "per head of cattle" for his services.
- Due to these activities, he had been on the radar of police and security agencies for a significant period.
Legal Action And Further Investigation
The police have registered a case against Nishad under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He was presented in court on Wednesday and subsequently sent to jail.
CO Campierganj, Anurag Singh, stated that the police are currently investigating the source of the recovered heroin and its intended destination. Furthermore, interrogation of the accused has revealed the names of other individuals involved in drug and cattle smuggling. Police are currently gathering evidence against these associates and are preparing to take further action.
