To manage the heavy rush of passengers during the festival season, the station management at Gorakhpur Junction has made robust arrangements, including new traffic rules, dedicated holding areas, and high-tech monitoring.

Passenger Holding Areas and Services

Five "holding areas" (resting places) have been fully prepared on the station premises:

- Opposite the VIP gate (Gate 1)

- Near the coach restaurant

- Between gates 5 and 6

- On the cabway at platform 1

- Near the booking hall of the northern entrance

These areas will provide the following services:

Train Information: Passengers will receive updated information about routine and special trains through display boards and announcement systems.

Ticketing: Passengers can purchase general tickets directly within the holding areas, avoiding long queues at main counters. Ticket checking staff (TTE) with mobile UTS ticket machines will be present in each area.

Platform Access And Train Management

A new system will manage the flow of passengers from the holding areas to the platforms:

Staggered Entry: In case of increased crowding, passengers arriving at the junction will be stopped in the holding areas.

Originating Trains: Passengers will be allowed onto the platform 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

Passing Trains: For passing trains like the Vaishali, Sapt Kranti, and Bihar Sampark Kranti Express, passengers will be allowed entry 20 minutes before departure.

Special Trains: These will be operated only from platforms number 1,2 and 9.

Guided Movement: Security personnel will allow passengers to move from the holding areas to the platforms according to train departure times, using a designated route.

Ticket Checks: Passengers' tickets will be checked at the gate. Entry for unauthorised passengers will be completely prohibited.

Vehicle And Traffic Rules

New rules are in place for the circulating area (station premises):

Drop-off Or Pick-up Only: Only vehicles dropping off and picking up passengers will be allowed entry. Drivers can use the area in front of the gates for this purpose.

No Parking: Vehicles will not be permitted to park on the premises and must use the designated stands. A fine will be imposed for violations.

No Fee: No fee will be charged, nor will a slip be issued for vehicles using the premises for the specified drop-off or pick-up time.

Security And Monitoring

For the first time at Gorakhpur Junction, the station and passengers are being monitored using advanced methods:

Drones and War Room: Monitoring is being conducted by drone and from a dedicated war room.

CCTV: An additional 30 CCTV cameras have been installed in the holding areas, and monitoring has commenced.

Personnel: Security personnel are deployed at various locations.
