A romance that blossomed on the matrimonial site Shaadi.com came to a gruesome end in Barabanki district, where a 30-year-old woman was found murdered with her throat slit at her lover's residence. The incident has created a sensation in Shahavpur village under the Masauli police station limits.
While the police have taken the lover into custody for questioning, his entire family has absconded following the discovery of the body.
Background Of The Affair
The victim, identified as Mamta Yadav, a resident of the Shahpur area in Gorakhpur, had been in a relationship for the past one and a half years with Sandeep Yadav, a resident of Shahavpur village in Masauli.
Sandeep works as a Bio-CNG engineer for a Reliance company based in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The two met on Shaadi.com. Despite Mamta already being married, their affair continued. Meanwhile, succumbing to family pressure, Sandeep was married to a woman from Daukhalpur on May 4. However, the final marriage ceremony (gauna) had not yet taken place.
According to reports, Sandeep had taken leave and returned to his village a week ago, allegedly under pressure from Mamta.
The Incident
On Monday night, Mamta traveled from Gorakhpur to Sandeep’s home in Shahavpur. Her arrival was met with strong opposition from Sandeep’s family, including his father Kamlesh, mother Santosh Kumari, and four sisters—Sudha, Nidhi, Mira and Kanchan.
The situation was temporarily defused after Sandeep assured his family that he would send Mamta back. Following the argument, everyone went to sleep.
Discovery Of The Body
On Tuesday morning, Sandeep reportedly went outside to relieve himself. Upon returning, he did not find Mamta in bed. He asked his mother, who was sitting by a fire outside, about Mamta’s whereabouts but received no answer.
Sandeep then searched the house and found a room locked. After breaking the lock, he discovered Mamta’s blood-soaked body inside; her throat had been slit. Following the discovery, Sandeep's parents and four sisters fled the scene.
Police Investigation
Sandeep informed the Police Response Vehicle (PRV) about the incident. A heavy police force arrived at the scene, including Masauli Station House Officer Amit Pratap Singh, Superintendent of Police (SP) Arpit Vijay Vargiya, the Circle Officer of Ramnagar, the Additional SP, and a forensic team.
The forensic team inspected the crime scene and collected evidence.
Official Statement Confirming the incident, SP Arpit Vijay Vargiya stated, "A woman's body was found in Shahavpur. The man's family members have absconded, and a search is underway for them. A case has been registered, and the man has also been taken into custody. All facts are being investigated."
