In a significant move to facilitate infrastructure development, the Bihta-Khagaul main road will be completely closed to vehicular traffic on the stretch between Kanhuali and Shivala Chowk. The closure will be effective from December 18 through July 15, 2026.
A directive regarding this restriction was issued by the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Danapur. The closure is necessitated by the commencement of major road construction work by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on this specific section.
According to the administration, the decision to halt all traffic is aimed at preventing accidents and ensuring the construction work is expedited safely and smoothly.
Relief Measures For Schools
Recognising the high concentration of schools and colleges located between Shivala Chowk and Kanhuali, the administration has announced a partial relief measure. Vehicle movement will be permitted strictly during the following windows:
Morning: 7:30 am to 8:30 am
Afternoon: 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Officials noted that these time slots are subject to adjustment in the future if school timings change.
Designated Alternative Routes
To minimise disruption and maintain traffic flow between Bihta, Patna and Arrah (Bhojpur), the administration has designated specific alternative routes:
For Traffic Between Bihta and Patna:
Route 1: Bihta Chowk via Maner to Danapur Cantt.
Route 2: Bihta Chowk via Maner– Sherpur – Chhitnawan – Usri Bazar – Shivala to Patna.
Additional Diversions:
Separate alternative routes have been identified specifically for smaller vehicles.
Designated routes have also been mapped for traffic moving between Arrah (Bhojpur) and Patna.
Administrative Appeal
The local administration has appealed to the general public to utilise the designated alternative routes to avoid inconvenience. Commuters are urged to strictly adhere to traffic rules and cooperate with authorities. The administration emphasised that public cooperation is essential to complete the construction on time, which will result in significantly better road facilities in the future.
