Greater Noida Shocker: A 22-year-old man allegedly killed his girlfriends 45-year-old father in Badalpur for rejecting his proposal to marry the daughter.

The suspect, identified as Deepak Goswami, was arrested on Sunday in Badalpur. He had met the girl through social media two years ago, police said, as per a Hindustan Times report.

As per the police, about six teams are currently involved in the investigation.

Deepak is a pharmacy undergraduate student-cum-medical representative, as per the police. He was staying in Surajpur’s Kasba area in Greater Noida, though he originally hails from Meerut.

The victim, identified as Mahipal, would sell agricultural land on commission. He was also a farmer and resident of Bambawar village, Greater Noida, as per the report.

Last month, in another unrelated incident in Mutena village, located in the Dankaur area of Greater Noida, a 62-year-old man was allegedly killed by his paternal nephew after hitting him with a brick. Police, upon receiving information, arrived at the scene, took custody of the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination.

The deceased has been identified as Satpal, who retired from the army in 2006 and had been farming in the village since.

According to the complaint filed by the victim's son, Amit, the incident stemmed from an old property dispute. Amit stated that his father was one of five brothers and the property had been divided years ago. Construction was currently underway on their gher (enclosure), where his father would stay at night. He explained that the accused had been objecting to a wall being built as part of this construction.
