Greater Noida Fire: A massive fire broke out in a six-storey building in Shahberi, Greater Noida West on Wednesday. Fire officials said the fourth floor of the building had caught fire. They said no injuries in the incident were reported.

The authorities said locals informed the control room at around 10.45 am after spotting smoke emanating from the building. The incidents happened on the ninth day of the Durga Puja celebration. Locals were busy in the Navratri Kanya Pujan when they heard a noise. After seeing fire, the locals vacated the building, even before the arrival of the fire brigade team, HT reported.

A fire officer (Ecotech 3, Greater Noida) Ajay Kumar said two fire tenders were immediately dispatched after receiving a call from the local. The fire was brought under control within an hour, he added.

What Caused The Fire?

Kumar said preliminary investigation suggests that a family living on the fourth floor lit up a small lamp in their temple on the last day of Navratri, which somehow ignited nearby stationery items, spreading the fire. The family left for work after lighting the diya, he added.

The viral video on social media shows a thick layer of smoke filling the entire locality. The fire caused chaos in the lane and locals gathered there. However, fire brigade teams controlled the situation.

Fire Breaks Out At Godown Near Bhiwandi

Another fire incident was reported in Maharashtra's Thane. A godown at Mankoli in Thane caught flame on Wednesday night, a civic official said. The fire broke out at around 11 pm at the paper and cardboard godown, and fire engines from Bhiwandi were rushed to the spot, he said. There was no report of anyone getting injured and firefighting was underway, he said.
