Businesses, companies, and stockists across Purvanchal, including Gorakhpur, are accelerating preparations for the implementation of revised GST rates, which are set to take effect on September 22, 2025.

Following a government order, traders have been given two options for managing their existing inventory: either sell all old stock by September 30 at the previous prices or begin selling it with new price stickers that reflect the revised GST rates.

In response, the entire supply chain is buzzing with activity. Companies have started printing new price labels for products with the old MRP, while distributors and stockists are working to clear their warehouse inventory. The collective goal is to ensure a transparent and smooth transition to the new pricing system.

Anand Rungta, a wholesaler and retailer of electrical goods, confirmed that his business is already calculating new consumer prices for products like pressure cookers, water filters, and air conditioners. "From September 22, we will begin applying stickers with the new rates to our products, and the new prices will come into effect," he explained. Rungta also assured that traders would not suffer financial losses from the rate reduction, as "any excess GST paid on the old stock will be automatically adjusted in the coming months."

This coordinated effort is visible across different sectors. Ramesh Ramrayka, a distributor for Hindustan Unilever, said the company has issued clear instructions. "From the September 22, we will sell old stock by applying stickers with the new rates. The company has assured us that any existing stock in the depot will be provided to traders with the revised, lower-price stickers already applied," he noted.

The impending deadline is creating a sense of urgency. "The government's directive is clear that old stock should be cleared by the Septemeber 30," said wholesale trader Anil Kumar Gupta. "For this reason, we are supplying goods to retailers as soon as they place orders so that the inventory can be cleared in time."

Mohammad Salman, a cosmetics wholesaler, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of clear communication for smaller businesses. "We are also busy clearing our stock quickly. Often, small shopkeepers are not immediately aware of revised rates, so new stickers are essential, and we are preparing accordingly," he said.
