The Uttar Pradesh government is swiftly advancing the Har Ghar Nal Se Jal Yojana. So far, the scheme has achieved its 100 per cent target in 24,576 villages, where every household now has access to a tap water connection. Among these, 1,769 villages have fully operational tap-based water supply systems.
According to government data, a total of 79,44,896 connections have been provided, benefiting approximately 4,86,13,240 residents. Mirzapur district leads the way, with the scheme completed in all 1,769 villages there.

Other districts making significant progress include Gorakhpur (1372 villages), Kushinagar (693), Hardoi (651), Prayagraj (639), Lalitpur (603), Ghazipur (579), Deoria (574), Shahjahanpur (567), and Basti (553).
In addition to ensuring water access, the Rural Water Supply and Namami Gange Department is also generating employment. In each village, five women are engaged in providing Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs), while 13 other individuals are being employed after receiving skill training in roles such as plumbers, fitters, and electricians.
