A festive shopping trip ended in unimaginable tragedy on Wednesday when a 35-year-old woman was killed in a gruesome accident on the Gulaothi road. The incident, which has been blamed on a large pothole, occurred in the Dhaulana police station area, leaving a family shattered just before the Karwa Chauth festival.
The victim has been identified as Anuradha, a resident of Bhatiana village. She was riding on a motorcycle with her husband, Hari Om, heading towards Gulaothi market to purchase items for the festival.
According to reports, as the couple neared the bridge over the Madhya Ganga Canal, an oncoming truck swerved violently in an attempt to avoid a pothole on the road. The driver lost control and collided with the motorcycle, throwing both Anuradha and Hari Om onto the road.
The impact of the collision was catastrophic. Anuradha suffered severe and mutilating injuries. In a horrifying scene that stunned eyewitnesses, her heart was ejected from her chest and fell onto the road, where it reportedly continued to beat for a short time. She died at the scene as her husband watched. Hari Om also sustained serious injuries in the crash.
Aftermath And Official Response
Local villagers and passers-by immediately rushed to the scene. They moved the injured to the roadside and informed the police. The truck driver was caught by the public and handed over to the authorities.
Police arrived and took custody of Anuradha's body, sending it for a post-mortem examination. This action led to a protest from the victim's family, who were distressed that they had not been notified before the body was moved. The situation was later calmed after the intervention of CO Pilkhuwa, Anita Chauhan and other officials.
CO Chauhan stated that a case has been registered against the truck driver based on the complaint filed by the family and that an investigation is underway. She assured that the cause of the accident will be thoroughly investigated.
Poor Road Conditions Blamed
This tragic incident has amplified long-standing concerns among local residents about the perilous state of the Dhaulana-Gulaothi road. Villagers allege that the road has been in a dilapidated condition for a long time, riddled with potholes that make it a constant danger for commuters. They claim that despite numerous complaints to the administration, no action has been taken to repair it.
Family Left Devastated
Anuradha's death has left her family in a state of shock and profound grief. Her husband, Hari Om, is currently admitted to a hospital, fighting for his life. The couple has two sons, Ayush and Aarav, who now face the devastating loss of their mother. The incident has cast a pall of mourning over the entire region.
