The night which was supposed to be a beautiful start of life turned out to be horrifying, as Captain Nishad's newlywed wife threatened him on their first wedding night in UP's Prayagraj. The 26-year-old man from Prayagraj's ADA Colony was startled when his bride, Sitara, whom he had only married the day before, threatened to slice him into 35 pieces.
What followed were three harrowing nights filled with threats, terror, and humiliation, culminating in a spectacular midnight escape.
Captain Nishad married Sitara, the daughter of Lakshmi Narayan Nishad of Karachhana Deeha village, on April 29. The bride arrived at her in-laws' home on April 30, and a lavish celebration was held on May 2.
Unbeknownst to the family members and visitors taking part in the celebrations, a terrifying tale had started to develop within the couple's room.
“When I entered the room, she was sitting quietly, completely veiled, and holding a knife," Nishad recounted. “She told me bluntly—’Don’t touch me. I’m Aman’s property. If you try, I’ll cut you into 35 pieces.’ I was frozen. That entire night, I sat on the sofa while she stayed on the bed with the knife. I didn’t dare sleep."

According to Nishad this went on for three more nights. “She would sleep only after midnight. I stayed awake, fearing she might stab me in my sleep. I’ve read about such cases in newspapers. I thought I might become another headline."
Unable to handle the mental strain, Nishad told his mother everything on May 3. Chaos ensued when Sitara was confronted.
The groom's father, Ram Asare Nishad, claims that the family called Sitara's parents right away to let them know what was going on. In front of village elders, a formal meeting between the two families took place on May 25.
They even got in neighbours to mediate, he said. She consented to remain with their son in a signed settlement.
Sitara allegedly persisted in privately pestering her husband in spite of the arrangement, rejecting the marriage and frequently requesting to be sent to her beloved Aman. On May 30, she finally escaped.
