Bareilly Violence Row: A Samajwadi Party delegation led by Mata Prasad Pandey, Leader of the Opposition in the UP Assembly and senior SP leader, was scheduled to visit Bareilly on Saturday, but was stopped by the Lucknow administration. Police have been deployed outside Pandey's residence in the capital city.
Violent clashes had erupted in Bareilly on September 26 when a crowd of over 2,000 people, which had gathered outside a mosque in the Kotwali area after Friday prayers to protest the cancellation of a proposed protest over the 'I Love Muhammad' poster row, resorted to stone-pelting, causing injuries to police personnel.
A heavy police force was deployed outside the residence of the Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly in Lucknow as the delegation of 14 Samajwadi Party MPs and MLAs planned to visit Bareilly.
"बरेली जाने से पहले ही दरोगा ने मुझे कहा कि आपको अपने घर में रहना है, जिलाधिकारी ने भी कहा कि वहां मेरे जाने से माहौल बिगड़ेगा। हम कोई माहौल नहीं बिगाड़ते, प्रशासन अपनी कमियों को छिपाने के लिए हमें वहां नहीं जाने दे रहा है।"

We Are Not Allowed To Go: UP LoP
"Even before going to Bareilly, the SHO told me that you have to stay in your home, and the District Magistrate also said that my going there would spoil the atmosphere. We don't want to spoil any atmosphere; the administration is not letting us go there to hide its own shortcomings," the UP LoP said.
"We are being prevented from going. This was not a communal riot. The police themselves have ruined the law and order situation; they have become biased. If two communities had clashed, I would have assumed a serious incident would have occurred. When we asked the police, they were not giving any clear answers," he added.
SP MP Has Been Placed Under House Arrest
On the other hand, in Sambhal, police from two police stations, Nakhasa and Raisatti, have been deployed outside the residence of SP MP Ziaur Rahman Barq. Police are present outside the MP's residence. The SP MP has been placed under house arrest.
Saharanpur Police Stop MP Chandrashekhar Azad From Visiting Bareilly
Earlier, the Saharanpur police on Thursday prevented Lok Sabha MP Chandrashekhar Azad from travelling to Bareilly to meet the families of victims of violence. According to Saharanpur Additional SP (Rural) Sagar Jain, Azad arrived at his residence in Harijan Colony, Chhutmalpur, late Wednesday night. The police reportedly requested him not to travel to Bareilly. Sources said that upon receiving information about the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) chief's arrival, a strong police contingent was deployed overnight around his residence, and barricades were put up, effectively confining him indoors.
