A special training program for 150 District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) spokespersons has begun at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Lucknow. This initiative aims to prepare teachers to effectively teach coding, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and digital literacy, newly introduced subjects for students in classes 6 to 8 in upper primary schools. 

The training, running until April 25th, was inaugurated by Kanchan Verma, Director General of School Education. She highlighted the rapid growth and adoption of technology, AI, and coding, underscoring the importance of equipping students with the skills to utilise these technologies effectively. The trained DIET spokespersons will then train teachers in primary schools.

Director of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Ganesh Kumar, noted that the program, with the help of IIIT experts, will enable teachers to learn about the latest advancements in the technological field. 

Dr Pawan Sachan, Joint Director of SCERT, added that 10 teachers from each district will receive this training in the future. Professor Dr Deepak Singh from IIIT and Professor VP Singh, Chairman of the Asia Coaching Network, were also present at the event.
