Uttar Pradesh’s Governor and Chancellor Anandiben Patel held an online meeting with Vice Chancellors of all state universities to discuss preparations for International Yoga Day 2025. She emphasised the need to align programs with this year's theme, 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' and called for more effective, creative, and participatory events from June 1 to June 21.

The Governor directed that yoga programs should be organised systematically, with special focus on inclusivity. She suggested incorporating activities like cleanliness drives, plantation drives, cycle tours, and padyatras into Yoga Week events. She also urged universities to prepare a book combining yoga, cleanliness, and music.

In her address, Patel highlighted the importance of reaching special groups, including Divyangjan (differently-abled individuals), senior citizens, children, and students with special needs, by organising dedicated yoga sessions. She further recommended that health centers at universities offer services to nearby villages, and that all employees undergo body mass index (BMI) tests.

Patel also proposed running special programs under the Garbha Sanskar Abhiyan for pregnant women and called for green exhibitions to educate the public about local medicinal plants. In an effort to make a global impact, the Governor encouraged universities to jointly organise 10 group programs that could potentially set world records. She also proposed hosting international yoga sessions in collaboration with foreign universities and launching innovative campaigns on digital platforms.

The Governor emphasised that Yoga Day should not be viewed merely as a celebration, but as the beginning of a lifestyle change that reaches every village. She praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in taking yoga to the global stage and urged universities to strengthen this movement even further.
