In a bid to attract investment in the food and processing industry, Invest UP is preparing to organise a major investors’ conference in Lucknow. The event will bring together not only large companies in the food processing sector but also progressive farmers to strengthen the state's agro-based industrial ecosystem.
A proposal for the conference has been submitted to the state government. Despite several incentives under the Food Processing Industry Policy-2023, the sector has not witnessed the expected inflow of investment.
In response, Invest UP is stepping up its efforts to promote the policy and related schemes in collaboration with departments such as Horticulture and Food Processing, Rural Development, and Agriculture.

To increase participation, Invest UP is actively reaching out to investors, offering detailed guidance on policy benefits. Efforts are also underway to create farmer clusters that can be directly linked to food processing units, thereby aiming to increase farmers’ income and build strong farm-to-factory value chains.
Under the Food Processing Industry Policy-2023, the government is offering a range of incentives, including:
-Capital subsidy up to Rs 5 crore for setting up food processing units.
-25 per cent transport subsidy on exports of food products (excluding Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan).
-100 per cent exemption in stamp duty on land purchase for setting up units.
-Exemption from mandi fee and cess on agricultural produce procured from other states for processing in UP.
-For women entrepreneurs, a subsidy of up to 90 per cent on solar energy projects has also been provisioned to support sustainable power use.
