The protest against the opening of a liquor store in Nyay Khand-1, Indirapuram, is showing no signs of stopping, as it continued on Saturday. Women living in the area held a sit-in protest in front of the shop. Although they had arranged for seating, police did not allow them to put up a tent when they tried to get some shade from the sun. This led to a heated argument between the protesting women and the police. The women have one clear demand: that this shop be closed down.

Women from the Janta Flats and HIG residential areas had started their protest early in the morning. As the sun got stronger in the afternoon, it became very difficult for them to sit there, which is why they arranged for a tent. But as soon as they started setting it up, the police came and stopped them. During this confrontation, the women questioned the police's attitude and accused them of wrongdoing. They said they have no hope of getting any help from the police and alleged that the police are siding with the shop's owner, which is why they aren't interested in getting the shop shut.

Expressing their concerns, the women stated that the area already has a major problem with substance abuse, and that intoxicated anti-social people often start fights and harass others. They insisted that opening a liquor store right in the middle of a residential area is a violation of the rules. They feel it will make women and girls unsafe, because people who have been drinking often harass them. It is also worth noting that on Friday, residents from the Supertech Icon Society had also protested against this same shop.
