Union Aviation Minister Kinju Rappu Ram Mohan Naidu announced that Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport is scheduled to open on October 30, during a program held at Hindon Airport. According to Jagram.com the miniter stated that flights would commence within 45 days of the airport’s inauguration, with the first phase connecting Jewar to Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

The event at Hindon Airport featured various competitions, and passengers were warmly welcomed. NIAL CEO Rakesh Kumar Singh also reviewed the airport’s inaugural program on Tuesday. Following the finalization of the inauguration date, officials held a meeting at the airport site on Wednesday, attended by representatives from the police, administration, and the airport company

The minister also revealed that within the next two months, free Wi-Fi would be available for passengers at all airports across India.

Jewar Airport International Flights 

Initial plans indicate that Noida Airport’s first international flights will operate to Singapore, Dubai, and Zurich, highlighting Zurich, the base of the airport’s concessionaire. On the domestic front, the airport will link to key cities including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Dehradun, and Hubli.

The airport is being developed in four phases, with the first phase centered on constructing a 101,590 sq m passenger terminal, a 3.9 km runway, and essential support facilities. Covering 1,334 hectares in Jewar, this phase is designed to handle 12 million passengers and 100,000 flights annually, with an estimated investment of 730.5 million.

About Noida International Airport 

1. Noida International Airport in Jewar is nearing completion with advanced runway facilities for smooth operations in adverse weather.

2. The runway is equipped with CAT-III B Instrument Landing System (ILS) enabling flight operations in visibility as low as 50 metres during dense fog or heavy rain.

3. This system will significantly reduce flight delays and cancellations.

4. The first phase covers 1,339 hectares in six villages of Jewar, being developed at a cost of Rs 30,000 crore with modern technology sourced from India and abroad.

5. With its launch, Uttar Pradesh will become the first state in India to have five international airports, joining Lucknow, Varanasi, Kushinagar, and Ayodhya.

6. In the first phase, the airport will handle 28 aircraft on its apron and provide 10 aerobridges for simultaneous boarding.

7. At full capacity after the fourth phase, the airport will offer parking for 186 aircraft.

8. Currently, only six airports in India, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Jaipur, Amritsar, and Lucknow, have CAT-III B capability and Noida Airport will be the seventh to join this list.
