Vande Bharat Assault: An outrage was created on social media after the news about a passenger being assaulted by a BJP MLA's supporters on the Vande Bharat train at Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. According to media reports, BJP MLA from Jhansi, Rajeev Singh, got angry after a passenger refused to give him his seat on the premium train and he called his supporters after an argument with the co-passenger.
What Had Exactly Happened On June 19?
The incident took place a few days ago on the Delhi-Bhopal Vande Bharat train. The passenger was allegedly thrashed after he refused to switch his seat with Sing.
On Thursday (June 19), Singh was travelling to his constituency with his wife and son. His and his family members' seats were allotted at two different places in the coach. The politician's seat was at the back of the train compartment, while his family members got to the front, next to the passenger who was assaulted for refusing to switch his seat.

Allegations Against The MLA
Other passengers said the situation escalated after Singh called his supporters at the Jhansi station and they boarded the train. His supporters, after arriving at the station, assaulted the passenger. The victim was travelling to Bhopal.
A video that emerged on social media shows a few men raining punches on the passenger in the coach in the presence of other passengers. In the video, the victim is seen with blood oozing from his nose and his t-shirt soaked in blood.
Railways Authorities Confirms Incident
NDTV reported, quoting Railway Superintendent of Police (Jhansi) Vipul Kumar Srivastava, that the Railway authorities confirmed the incident.
A case is filed and appropriate action will be taken based on CCTV footage, Srivastava said.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Jhansi filed a non-cognizable report (NCR). The MLA also lodged a complaint against the passenger. Singh, in his complaint, claimed that while travelling with his wife and son, the co-passenger behaved indecently and hurled abuses.
