In a major infrastructure push aimed at making the city jam-free, the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) has launched a Rs 700 crore project for the construction and widening of six key roads. The initiative will not only improve traffic flow but also support the planned development of industrial areas and the Greater Kanpur region under the Kanpur Development Master Plan 2051, which envisions a total investment of Rs 37,000 crore.

As part of the road construction project, Rs 420 crore has been allocated for land acquisition, with Rs 280 crore earmarked for construction. KDA has already begun on-ground and satellite surveys, with land markings and acquisition processes underway.

On the instructions of KDA Vice President Madan Singh Garbyal, Secretary Abhay Singh and Executive Engineer Amandeep Tiwari have accelerated efforts to prepare the blueprint, combining both Google-based mapping and on-site verification.

Roads to Be Constructed Under the Project:

1. Mandhana to Bhaunti Road

-Length: 8.9 km

-Total Cost: Rs 425 crore

-Land Acquisition Cost: Rs 335 crore

-Construction Cost: Rs 90 crore

-Width: 75 meters

2. Kanpur–Jhansi Road (Upgradation)

-Length: 5 km

-Total Cost: Rs 105 crore

-Land Acquisition: Rs 75 crore

-Construction: Rs 30 crore

-Width: 30 meters

3. Two Connecting Roads from Barrage to Mainavati Marg

-Length: 800 meters and 850 meters respectively

-Total Cost: Rs 40 crore

-Land Acquisition: Rs 10 crore

-Width: 24 meters

4. Bingawan to Arra Road Extension

-Length: 8 km

-Part of the Rs 90 crore allocation for the remaining roads

5. Barra to Vishwa Bank Road

-Length: 5 km

-Width: 16 meters

-Included in Rs 90 crore fund

The KDA is also working on identifying land for industrial development, aiming to promote employment generation in the region. Officials stated that surveys are progressing rapidly, and acquisition will begin shortly to keep the project on track.
