With lakhs of devotees expected to gather at the Panki Hanuman temple on the occasion of Budhwa Mangal, the Kanpur Traffic Police has announced major diversions and parking arrangements to prevent congestion. The diversion will remain in force from 6 pm on September 1 to 6 am on September 3.

Traffic Diversion Plan

  • Vehicles from Kalyanpur will not be allowed towards Shatabdi Dwar–Panki temple beyond Awas Vikas Canal Panki. They must use the Armapur Canal Tiraha or MIG Tiraha routes.
  • Heavy and medium vehicles will not be permitted towards Panki Canal from Panki Road Chowki; they must use the Double Pulia Vijay Nagar route.
  • Heavy and medium vehicles will be barred from Bhatia Tiraha towards Panki temple and diverted via Armapur Canal.
  • No vehicles will be allowed towards Panki temple from Kalpi Road via Panki Dham Station.
  • Traffic from Narayana College Square will not be permitted towards Shatabdi Dwar Tiraha; alternative routes via Gangaganj Crossing must be used.
  • Heavy and medium vehicles from Panki Padav–Gangaganj Crossing will be restricted towards the temple.
  • No heavy vehicles will be allowed between Bhauti Bypass Square and Vijay Nagar Square; they must reroute via Dada Nagar–LML Square.

Parking Arrangements for Devotees

  • From Kanpur Dehat (via Bhauti bypass): Parking on both sides of Gangaganj Road before Station Road Tiraha and nearby link roads.
  • From Hamirpur, Fatehpur, Unnao: Parking inside MIG Tiraha and both sides of Panki Thana Road.
  • From Kannauj, Farrukhabad, Kanpur Dehat (via Kalyanpur): Parking at Ramlila Ground, MIG Road and Sabzi Mandi Tiraha.
  • From Shivli–Rasulabad (via Ratanpur): Parking on both sides of Narayana College intersection to Shatabdi Nagar Road Tiraha.
  • Additional Parking: Temple western gate (gates 2 and 3 for VIPs/services), Shatabdi Road–Ratanpur stretch, Sabzi Mandi Road, Ramlila Maidan, both sides of Panki Thana Road, Kamal Memorial School Lane, Kachhua Talab Road (for police/administration), Station Road to Gangaganj Crossing, and ATM intersection.

Additional DCP West Kapil Dev Singh said security arrangements are in place with 22 inspectors, 128 sub-inspectors, 15 women sub-inspectors, 106 women constables and 300 constables deployed. Separate barricaded queues for men and women have been arranged, with women police personnel on duty. Suspicious activity will be monitored through CCTV and drones.

All passes issued in the Panki area stand cancelled between September 1 (6 pm) and September 3 (6 am). The administration has appealed to devotees to follow traffic and parking rules to ensure smooth movement.
