Gorakhpur Link Expressway closed: Both lanes of the link expressway awaiting inauguration were closed on Tuesday, May 27. Big dividers were placed on both lanes near Khanimpur. The move comes after the Kushinagar four-lane collapsed and the link expressway was closed for security checks. The collapsed portion of the Kushinagar four-lane was repaired on Tuesday. Here, the road was broken and the gravel was taken out and after repairing it again, asphalt was laid, jagran.com reported.
Kushinagar four lane is near the link expressway. Five days ago, at a short distance from the link expressway, the Kushinagar four lane road collapsed 20 meters in length, five meters in width and 10 metres in depth. When the officials came to know about this, the pit was filled with soil. When the matter came to the media on Tuesday, the repair work was done immediately by removing gravel and soil from the sunken part of the road.
The inauguration of the link expressway is being continuously postponed. Earlier it was to be inaugurated in April. Later it was decided that the inauguration would be done in May.
The road has been closed to prevent any damage to the link expressway due to rain, sources said as per jagran.com.
