Commuting within Lucknow is set to increase as fares for city electric and AC buses have been reduced by two to five rupees, an initiative designed to make short-distance travel more affordable for passengers.

The decision was made at a meeting of the Board of Directors of Lucknow City Transport Services Limited (LCTSL) on Monday evening, held under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant.

New Fare Structure

For the convenience of passengers on the company's electric AC buses, the board approved the following fare reductions in the first phase:

0 to 4 km: The fare has been reduced from Rs 12 to Rs 10.

Over 4 km to 7 km: The fare has been reduced from Rs 20 to Rs 15.

Other Decisions By The Board

During the meeting, the Board of Directors also:

Reviewed Operations: The operational results of LCTSL for the period from April to September 2025 were reviewed, and the utilization of the allocated budget was examined.

Approved Staff Bonus: Approval was given for an incentive amount of Rs 1,500 and Rs 3,000 as a Diwali holiday bonus for contractual drivers and conductors.

Requested New Buses: The board approved a proposal to request the government to provide new buses to LCTSL.

Revised Scrap Rates: Approval was granted to revise the auction rates for scrap and unusable buses belonging to LCTSL.

The meeting was attended by District Magistrate Vishakh G, the Municipal Commissioner, the Director of the Directorate of Urban Transport and their representative, Managing Director (LCTSL) RK Tripathi, the Chief Finance Officer, and the Manager (Operations).
